||UKSBS Recruitment Coordinator
After completing my A Levels at College I decided to go straight into full time work and began accumulating a wealth of experience in the Financial sector as an Administrator, before making the transition into Recruitment.
I worked for two large organisations in a Recruitment capacity for several years, but I found myself becoming increasingly frustrated with the growing emphasis that was being placed on processing targets at the expense of providing excellent customer service.
When I decided to leave my previous job I thought very carefully about where I wanted to work and UKSBS (then SSC) was the ideal choice for me. Whilst I'm never going to be a Nobel Peace Prize winner myself (unless they award one for having the illustrious ability to fit an inhuman number of mini donuts in my mouth), I've always found that being part of an organisation that makes a contribution to greater society to be a real motivating factor for me in the day to day job that I do.
I was amazed at the breadth of research that is being done across the Research Councils and was thrilled to become part of the recruitment team that focused on the Medical Research Council. I've met some wonderful people since joining, both within my team and out at the Units I support and there's a great satisfaction in knowing that the roles we fill could lead to major scientific breakthroughs for our respective councils.
Whilst the role has had its fair share of challenges since joining, I've found it very rewarding and feel that the role I perform has the right balance of meeting the administrative requirements of recruitment, whilst also providing me with the opportunity to give our customers a personal and professional service.
I'm looking forward to developing my career further within UKSBS and the Research Councils.
