You should have relevant experience of working within a fast-paced Facilities Management (FM) environment (A FM qualification would be highly desirable).  You should also be familiar with specialist FM software and have experience of using Microsoft Office products.

You will be highly organised and have demonstrable experience of working in a customer services environment.  You will also possess excellent communication/customer service skills as they will be required to deal with a wide range of people, including internal/external customers and contractors.

In addition to being a team player, you will be flexible, capable of working unsupervised, and be able to show initiative and take personal responsibility for your work.

The British Geological Survey (BGS), founded in 1835 is part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), and is the world's longest-established national geological survey and the UKs premier centre for earth science information and expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Good standard of education – GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) including English and Maths

Desirable

  • a formal Facilities Management qualification
  • membership of the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM).

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • previous experience of working in a Facilities Management environment
  • proficient in the use of FM databases/software
  • experience of working in a Help Desk environment
  • experience of working within a customer services environment.

Desirable

  • experience of working with a Shared Services Centre
  • experience of working with a FM Records Management System.

KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word
  • knowledge of Health & Safety processes

Desirable

  • knowledge of the work of BGS and its core values.

Working hours will be 37 per week excluding lunch breaks.
