Vacancies exist for an Electrical Maintenance Technician (Band C) and a Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician (Band D) within the ISIS Electrical Maintenance Section, which is part of the ISIS Electrical Services Group.

Band C:

  • within the role, you will be working closely with other Electrical Engineers, Technicians and Apprentices
  • in this role, as a nominated person, you will work on LV systems throughout ISIS, safely carrying out planned, reactive and continuous improvement maintenance tasks that have been organised by your Section Leader or Senior Technician.

Band D:

  • this position will involve working closely with the Electrical Maintenance Section Leader, to ensure that the maintenance section runs smoothly
  • in this role, as an authorised person you will be working on LV systems throughout ISIS
  • at times, you will be required to attend project meetings and organise both the Electrical Maintenance Technicians and Apprentice’s workload
  • having strong communication and organisational skills, you will have the responsibility to liaise with scientists and other engineering disciplines. You will also be responsible for the efficient and day-to-day execution of planned, reactive and continuous improvement maintenance activities relating to ISIS assets
  • you will also be involved with Electrical Installation Condition Reports, and the rectification of any reported C1, C2 and C3 failures and recommendations
  • this role will require you to demonstrate an ability to work on your own or as part of a team.

Shortlisting Criteria

Band C:

Essential:

  • recognised Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or other relevant structured training.

Desirable:

  • BS7671 IET wiring regulations
  • health and safety training
  • portable appliance testing
  • Nominated Person Low Voltage trained.

Band D:

Essential:

  • recognised level 3 Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or other relevant structured training
  • latest BS7671 IET wiring regulations qualification.

Desirable:

  • City and Guilds 2391 test and inspection or equivalent
  • ATEX/DSEAR approved training
  • health and safety training
  • portable appliance testing
  • Authorised Person Low Voltage trained.

Interview Criteria

Band C:

Essential:

  • knowledge and understanding, of single and three phase LV systems
  • safe isolation and proving dead.

Desirable:

  • electrical maintenance experience, preferably within an industrial environment
  • experience of CMMS systems
  • ELV control systems
  • portable appliance testing.

Band D:

Essential:

  • knowledge and understanding, of single and three phase LV systems
  • safe isolation and proving dead
  • electrical maintenance experience, planned, reactive and continuous improvement, preferably within an industrial environment
  • a logical approach to fault finding
  • ability to read electrical schematic drawings
  • working to the current BS7671 IET wiring regulations
  • working within a health and safety environment, understanding of risk assessments and method statements
  • experience of organising electrical packages of work
  • good organisational and communication skills
  • ability to liaise with Scientists and Engineers from other disciplines.

Desirable:

  • completion of Electrical Installation Condition Reports, Electrical Installation and Minor Works certificates
  • experience of CMMS systems
  • variable speed drives and motors
  • thermography, thermal imaging and reporting
  • ELV control systems
  • ATEX/DSEAR
  • portable appliance testing
  • ability to complete electrical safety/isolation documentation.
