About The Role

We now have a new opportunity for an additional Recruitment Assistant (Internally titled as ‘Resourcing Partner’) on an initial 2 Year fixed term basis within the Resourcing Team with a focus on the recruitment of STEM staff for STFC, based at our Harwell Campus.

This role will have a direct impact on our ability to carry out a range of exciting scientific and technical research projects, by helping to ensure we are best placed to attract talented staff within IT, Science, Engineering and a range of other disciplines.

You will provide high-quality comprehensive advice and support to hiring managers on the full recruitment life cycle, including advising on advertising, candidate attractions strategies, interviews and ability tests.

You will also ensure a high quality candidate experience, by providing information and support from the point of application to on boarding.

Further Responsibilities

  • proactively sourcing candidates for current and future recruitment requirements including through using social media, other technology, events and networking
  • working with our outsourced service provider, UKSBS, to ensure a seamless, timely and professional experience for candidates and recruiting managers
  • assist in improving STFC and UKRI’s marketing, branding and position in the market place, including attending occasional careers events
  • ensuring vacancy approvals are in place
  • tracking the status of pre-employment screening and administer the new starter process to ensure new starters can take up employment quickly and seamlessly.

Candidate Criteria


  • a strong academic background, particularly in English
  • experience from a recruitment environment, including providing recruitment advice and support, implementing effective candidate attraction strategies,
  • writing engaging adverts, reviewing CVs and arranging interviews
  • knowledge of recruitment best practice, including understanding candidate attraction techniques
  • full recruitment life cycle experience
  • excellent MS office skills
  • exceptional communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build strong relationships with a wide variety of customers, colleagues and stakeholders
  • customer centric approach with willingness to provide outstanding service
  • pro-active approach
  • highly organised with the ability to prioritise and multi task
  • able to problem solve with creative solutions
  • flexible attitude and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • passion for people and recruitment
  • collaborative individual with a positive attitude
  • able to work in a fast-paced changing environment.


  • REC (The Recruitment & Employment Confederation) or CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) qualifications are desirable
  • knowledge of recruitment and employment immigration issues
  • experience of working in a large complex organisation
  • experience of recruiting for science, technology, professional or academic community
  • experience of organising assessment centres
  • interviewing skills
  • understanding of talent pool creation/management
  • experience of working with Oracle HR software.
