Hours: Full Time
Closing Date: 27st August 2018
Interview Date: 13th September 2018

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative scientist to join a research team that uses national spatial datasets to develop quantitative and mechanistic approaches to understand and model the impacts of environmental change on biodiversity, ecosystems and the services they provide. You will work on existing projects and develop your own areas of research in collaboration with a broad range of scientists within CEH and externally.

You will join the Biodiversity Modelling and Analysis group within the CEH Biodiversity Science Area. The group comprises ten full time staff and affiliated PhD students. Research within the group addresses questions about biodiversity change at national (GB and UK) scales, using data from large-scale surveys and opportunistic records gathered by citizen science. There is a strong emphasis on developing statistical and methodological tools, as well as on teamwork.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • to conduct statistical analysis of large scale biodiversity data to address questions about environmental change
  • to write the results for publication in the peer reviewed literature and for reports to funding agencies
  • to present findings at scientific meetings
  • to represent the team at meetings with stakeholders.
