As a Payroll Performance Leader, your primary focus will be on managing effective operations and delivery of high quality customer services to a specific client base within the payroll area. In addition you will ensure the team meets the service performance levels agreed with clients as well as supporting the Payroll Manager and the team to maximise performance and ensure customer satisfaction.

On a day to day basis your duties will include: -

  • day to day management, reconciliation and approval of monthly payrolls for various groups within the payroll department’s remit
  • responsible for signing off the monthly BACS payment reconciliation process ensuring any amended payments are processed correctly
  • answer all queries relating to agreed payroll groups in a timely and professional manner
  • provide cross operational team support as and when required
  • co-operate with HR team and provide details as and when requested
  • provide assistance and support to team members to ensure team tasks are achieved and KPI’s and Service Level Agreements are achieved
  • ensure data accuracy and quality of output is of the very highest standard
  • organise staff rotas and leave schedules to ensure sufficient cover at all times.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have: -

  • previous experience within a payroll department, preferably from a high volume Team Leader role
  • proficiency in using Microsoft Office software packages, particularly Excel and Word.

As a Payroll Performance Leader, you'll have a high degree of attention to detail along with plenty of initiative and a proactive approach. The ability to work to deadlines and good problem solving skills are also essential.

Education
 
Essential:

  • IPPM professional qualification or equivalent in payroll
  • demonstrate team leading skills acquired through training and experience.

Knowledge
 
Essential:

  • basic knowledge of Employment Legislation
  • knowledge of payroll processes.

Skills and Abilities
 
Essential:

  • excellent customer service and delivery focus
  • good interpersonal skills
  • computer literate with the ability to input data accurately and quickly.

Desirable:

  • familiar with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Oracle.

Relevant Experience
 
Essential:

  • payroll experience in a customer focused environment
  • experience of working in a high volume environment.

Desirable:

  • previous first line payroll centre experience
  • some experience of working with a varied customer base.
