Brief Description

Salary: £37,789 - £41,988 (dependent on skills and experience)
Grade: RC-E
Contract Type: Open-Ended
Hours: Full Time
Closing Date: 31st July 2018

ISIS is the Spallation Neutron Source located at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the UK. Operation centers on a high intensity proton synchrotron, which accelerates protons for delivery onto a heavy metal target to produce neutron through the spallation process. Efficient operation of the synchrotron requires a comprehensive knowledge of the proton beam dynamics. This beam information is obtained from a suite of beam diagnostic systems which provide information such as transverse beam position, beam intensity, beam profile and beam loss.

You will join the multi-disciplined Diagnostics Section and be responsible for the design, development, installation, commissioning, maintenance and operation of beam diagnostic devices and their associated electrical, electronic and computer systems. In addition, the Diagnostics Section has an active sustainability programme which you will be actively involved in.

You will also assist with the supervision, training and mentoring of Graduate Engineers and Apprentices whilst they are on placement with the Diagnostics Section.
