The UK SBS Procurement division applies best practise procurement to deliver savings for our partners, using a professional and strategic approach. We work to deliver value for money while achieving commercial outcomes.

As part of the procurement Policy team this role will help UKSBS to maintain a common and compliant approach to procurements on behalf of its customer base. The team position also provides professional direction to the Purchasing community and manages Supplier/Category agreements on behalf of and with support from the Partner Organisations. 

Key responsibilities in this role include:

  • the management and version control of the content in the UK SBS Procurement Library
  • provide Secretariat for the Document Change Review Board (DCRB), including minutes and recording decisions made and giving feedback
  • communicate changes as they are updated in the Library
  • provide support to the Head of Policy as is necessary
  • provide cover for other procurement team members including the Emptoris system
  • provide sourcing services for purchases up to £100K with the category teams as required
  • prepare pre tender and tender documents
  • guide and support in the use of e-procurement tools
  • adhere to Government regulations regarding the advertising and publishing of opportunities via the Contract Finder tool and other initiatives
  • ad-hoc and routine reporting as required
  • maintain the policies and procedures for the Procurement teams, including recent Government requirements and initiatives
  • manage requisitions of multiple values within the team
  • support and promote the use of defined best practice procurement processes and policies through electronic means across the wider Procurement community
  • manage the administration of Service Requests relating to electronic procurement process, meeting SLAs agreed with the Partner Organisations
  • any other activities as required.

We are able to offer flexibility with location, this role can be based in Newport or Swindon.

Shortlisting criteria:


  • 5 GCSEs grade C and above, including English and Maths
  • eligible for and willing to study for CIPS membership
  • knowledge of purchasing platforms
  • proven ability to communicate verbally and written with a wide range of internal and external customers
  • proven ability to focus on value for customers

  • self-motivated
  • ability to perform under pressure
  • track record of running and managing successful meetings
  • ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads.


  • knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations
  • Knowledge of UK Contract Law
  • ability to work with autonomy
  • ability to manage and influence senior staff
  • highly literate in Microsoft Office products; able to analyse using spreadsheets, produce reports using word and compile PowerPoint presentations.
