We provide the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure and enterprise services that underpin STFC programme activities and campuses. Core infrastructure consists of the site networks, connectivity to the outside world (and associated security) and fixed-line and mobile telephony. Enterprise services include STFC identity management, email, SharePoint, video conferencing and backup amongst others. In addition, we provide desktop support to several departments, business applications and help and advice to ICT staff across the business.

Media Services are experienced professionals using the latest technology to provide the most responsive, reliable service. From a clear brief we can deliver effective, creative and understanding solutions on time, within budget.

Services provided are: visual communication/creative design, film production, editing studio, photography/onsite studio, web design, digital printing, binding and finishing, large format printing, video conferencing and lecture theatre support.

Summary of Key Duties

As a Junior Creative Designer you will be involved with creating effective creative communications for the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). This will include adhering to corporate brand guidelines to maintain and enhance STFC’s reputation to key stakeholders.

  • You will have Creative Artwork experience, strong attention to detail as well as being confident in working across both print and digital projects as well as proof of previous studio/production experience.
  • Must ensure that all artwork produced is in line with brand guidelines.
  • Able to handle relationships with suppliers and manage print and other production collateral.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe CC Suite.
  • Must be able to prioritise work load and deliver high quality work on time.
  • Must be confident, ambitious and personable.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • desktop publishing software experience. Adobe products include: Photoshop Creative Cloud (CC), Illustrator, InDesign
  • creativity and innovation
  • an understanding of the latest trends in creative design and marketing

  • working under pressure to multiple deadlines producing a high standard of work.



  • at university, enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and required or have requested to take a year out of studies to gain experience within industry 
  • right to live and work in the UK.

  • experience of working to deadlines
  • experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • using Adobe Creative Suite CC or similar.


  • previous experience graphic design, photography and videography.
