Primary Tasks:

  • drawing together information from the first two years of the HiTech AlkCarb project ( to develop geological models (both conceptual and 3D) for mineralisation associated (in particular) with alkaline igneous systems
  • interpretation of petrological, mineralogical and geochemical data for samples from HiTech AlkCarb natural labs, and synthesis of those data
  • collaboration with a post-doc based in GEUS at Copenhagen on geo-model development.

Other Tasks:

  • attending HiTech AlkCarb workshops and meetings in locations across Europe and beyond
  • presentation of HiTech AlkCarb results at international conferences
  • contribution to team goals through effective team working.


  • BSc and PhD in Geology/Earth Sciences or due for completion in 6 months or equivalent experience
  • Geology of alkaline igneous systems
  • experience in acquiring, interpreting and synthesising geological, mineralogical and geochemical data for igneous systems
  • good collaborative worker, able to synthesise complex geological information from a variety of sources and work as part of a team
  • excellent presentation skills
  • effective written communication skills, including experience in writing scientific papers
  • ability to work unsupervised
  • able to travel abroad as required
  • good team worker


  • PhD research related to alkaline igneous systems and/or critical metals
  • experience in spatial data management systems such as ArcGIS
  • knowledge of 3D modelling systems and techniques
  • knowledge of ore deposit geology and critical metals.
Working hours will be 37 per week excluding lunch breaks.
